Can the metal contact points on an SD card corrode from being exposed to rain for a long period of time?

I once had an sd card fall into salt water. I dried it off and it still works sometimes. Anyway, my question is… I lost an sd card outdoors some time ago in a tropical climate where it rains often. I have lots of personal photos on it, nothing raunchy, but nothing I’d like a stranger to see either, so I’m hoping the metal contact points (not sure what they’re called) have corroded by now. I know sd cards can survive being dropped into water for long periods of time and survive being in the washing machine, but what about being exposed to rain and the elements for a long period of time? Would that make the metal contact points corrode?
