Hey everybody, I need some help. I erased about 20 pictures jpeg documents not more than 2 or 3 months ago in error thinking that I have them backed up. Therefore now I' m trying to recuperate them. I installed Recuva and found the files but they possess the status Unrecoverable. So I clicked recover and now I have these files in a folder on my desktop yet I cannot open them. Is there in whatever way I could save those pictures?

The best way to recover specific note that “disappeared” while editing it

admin 12 Feb , 2021 0 Comments data recovery

Hey guys! So , while I was editing a note in the pre-installed notepad app on our phone, that specific note, after being saved with the new changes, is now all blank! Only the name of said note remains. Nevertheless I search specific words (that I knew were only within the note that got " deleted" ) in the search bar of the notepad app, I still get that (now blank) note as the outcome! So I assume the content is still someplace. What can I do?

Sorry if it sounds confusing (I' m not sure whether I' m even asking it in the appropriate subreddit), and thanks ahead of time for all the help you can give me!

Single-Pass Disk Wipes are Now Sufficient?

admin 11 Feb , 2021 0 Comments data recovery

Hello all.

I took a few forensics lessons in the past and it was always trained that magnetic disks take several passes of wipes to truly make your data unrecoverable. I believed this particular for years and always recommended a full 3-5 pass DoD wipe. Yesterday I was reading some vendor paperwork that states that modern hard disk drives only needed a single pass now to accomplish this. I had to go searching and sure enough, there are references out there stating this in the last handful of years, including NIST. I guess I wanted to hear this from somebody in the field to help me confirm this. Is this valid? We didn' t think magnetic mass media changed that much in the last handful of years. Thoughts?

Information recovery on MBP SSD’s damaged drive?

admin 10 Feb , 2021 0 Comments data recovery

It seems like I’ve used up most space on my MBP, and when I rebooted it became corrupted/inoperable.

I was wondering if it’s possible to recover any data from this? I have some sensitive documents that will haven’t backed up due to poor web connection. On disk utility it states the drive could not be mounted and I can’t find the drive with the terminal.

Thank you!

Are these the best backup strategies?

admin 10 Feb , 2021 0 Comments data recovery

So I fucked up my macbook and when restoring the time machine backup the hard drive failed somehow.

I was able to recover our backup drive, thanks to all of your software recommendations and tips on this subreddit!

However I realized that my backup technique is still somewhat fragile.

So as the title says: What are your backup strategies? How do you prevent needing to do any kind of information recovery (again)?

Thanks a lot in advance!
