Hi there. My WD MyBook external hard drive recently stopped connecting to devices – it turns on just fine, it just cannot be read by any computer. I was told my only chance at saving my data was a data recovery, so I dropped it off at the most highly rated data recovery center in my area. I’m super nervous because I don’t know anything about data recovery, but it sounds scary. Is it possible that they can’t get my data? Might they accidentally destroy my hard drive in the process?? Im a musician and all of my files are on there, it sort of feels like my life’s work so far. Just seeking some reassurance, and more information on what exactly the data recovery process looks like and what I should reasonably expect to happen.
