In an effort to clear up space on my wife's Samsung Galaxy S7, I moved about 1000 photos from her phone to an SD card. Something went wrong as the photos now are corrupted and not readable. She will soon be hospitalized for cancer treatment and these are photos of our daughter that she was counting on having with her.
Right after we noticed I stupidly moved everything back from the SD card to her phone to see if that would fix it. It did not. After plugging in to a PC and running chk dsk and a few other utilities I ran HxD and analyzed the image files. They are all 0s, so there is no data in there.
Next I tried running data recovery software (EaseUS, DR Fone, and Tenorshare), thinking maybe I could locate old versions, but they didn't seem to find these images.
What should my next steps be? Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.
