Hello everyone. This is my first post here, so I hope it is appropriate.
I have a 4TB My Passport for Mac external hard drive and it failed. I took it to a professional to see if he could recover the data, but he said he couldn't. He said the the hard drive had some kind of adapter that made it impossible to access the hard drive by other means (I hope I am relaying that correctly). He said I would have to take it for a specialist for several hundred dollars.
My question is, is this adapter problem due the hard drive being designed for Mac? Would the normal WD Passport have this adapter piece that makes recovery so difficult? If not, then going forward I should get a regular WD passport and format it and then in the event it fails data recovery should be much simpler, right?
Thank you in advanced for any help. This process has been stressful.
