My MBP was installing an update when my internet went out and now it won’t boot at all. I can occasionally get it into Recovery mode, but my hard drive doesn’t show up in disk utility or to re-install the OS. Apple store says the only option is to erase the hard drive.
I’m wondering if there’s any way to still recover files from the hard drive before erasing it. Most of my data was backed up in external sources, but there are a few files that aren’t. When I look at data recovery software, it seems like it needs to be installed on the Mac and I don’t know how to do that if I can’t even get it to start.
